A simple MCP server for Obsidian

Install obsidian-mcp

Choose your AI client and copy the config.

Add to claude_desktop_config.json — macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/, Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\. Then restart Claude.

Run in your terminal:

claude mcp add obsidian-mcp -- npx -y obsidian-mcp@2 serve --vault notes=/absolute/path/to/vault

Run the server directly:

npx -y obsidian-mcp@2 serve --vault notes=/absolute/path/to/vault

Before you install: Install command taken from the project README. Check the README for any required environment variables.
